Jamestown Campus

Guilford Technical Community College was charted as the Guilford Industrial Education Center in 1958 and established in a former tuberculosis sanitarium near Jamestown. The Center initially trained knitters and fixers for the textile industry and upholsterers for the furniture industry. It expanded exponentially with the implementation of the Manpower Development and Training Act (1962) to train workers recruited by the Employment Security Commission for more than 20 separate job skills. The State Board of Education approved the Center’s advancement to Guilford Technical Institute in 1965 making it eligible for state and federal funding. The institution was elevated to Guilford Technical Community College on July 1, 1983.

The Jamestown Campus is considered the main campus for Guilford Technical Community College and has been expanded and updated numerous times over the years. Hassell Health Technologies was the last new building built on the Jamestown Campus and opened in April 2009. In addition, there have been several major renovations to Business Hall, Science Hall and Dental Science. The Jamestown Campus consists of more than 257 acres, 28 buildings and 1.2 million square feet

Today, you can find around 7,000 students on campus every day and it houses programs including nursing, dental science, public safety, culinary and college transfer. The Jamestown Campus also houses the Middle College at Jamestown, operated by Guilford County Schools. Middle College students take high school courses, but also have access to college credit courses with the opportunity to graduate with not only a high school diploma, but also an associate degree.
