Over a number of decades, multiple educational centers served the local Greensboro community. However, the opening of GTCC’s Greensboro campus at 3505 East Wendover Avenue was the institution’s pre-eminent historical event of 2005. The Greensboro Campus sits on approximately 75 acres and encompasses more than 264,000 square feet in the eastern part of Guilford County. This campus, consisting of four classroom buildings and a central energy plant, is one of GTCC’s newer campuses and was constructed between 2005 and 2009.
The Adult Education Center (AEC) is a 54,286 square foot, two story building featuring 26 classrooms, computer labs, a testing lab, a science lab, a student lounge, faculty offices and the library for the campus. The facility houses the adult high school, GED, adult basic education, compensatory education and English as a second language.
The Technical Education Center is a 117,098 square foot, three story building and has 11 classrooms, computer labs, numerous labs for the varied technical programs that are based in this facility and faculty offices. The TEC houses most of the industrial, construction, engineering and technology disciplines.
The Continuing Education Center (CEC) is a 41,071 square foot, two story building. The building contains 19 classrooms, computer labs, meeting spaces, the campus bookstore, the Campus Police office, faculty offices, the campus Dean’s office and various student services.
The Campus Center building is a 45,436 square-foot, two-story building. This building was the first LEED certified building for GTCC. It includes 12 classrooms, two biology labs, faculty offices and meeting spaces.
Today, the Greensboro Campus houses more than 5,000 students and offers degrees in Paralegal Technology, Mechatronics, Carpentry, HVAC, Turfgrass Management and Engineering just to name a few. The Middle College at Greensboro, operated by Guilford County Schools but housed on the Greensboro campus, is considered one of the best in the county. Middle College students take high school courses, but have access to college credit courses and have the opportunity to graduate with not only a high school diploma, but also an associate degree.
